On February 28th, Enfield Police Officer David Driscoll was dispatched to a truck which had crashed into a residence. He shut-off the racing engine to the debris-covered vehicle and removed the unconscious driver as the vehicle began to catch fire. He was awarded a Departmental Citation by Enfield. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company is proud to claim Firefighter Dave Driscoll in our ranks and we congratulate him on his well-deserved recognition.

Each year on the Saturday after Thanks-giving our town welcomes the holiday season with Simsbury Celebrates!, a diverse selection of family events for people of all ages. The evening's marquis event is the Fire Company's Torchlight Parade where we adorn many of the town's fire apparatus with lights and other festive decorations. Members march up Hopmeadow Street passing out candy to the children along the route.

The Simsbury Volun-teer Fire Company is proud to be a supporter of the Jack Bannon Turkey Trot which helps provide thousands of in-need families a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Each year the Fire Company makes a donation of turkeys and provides stand-by lighting for the collection site at the high school.

New photo's added!

On the morning of October 30th the occupants of 38 Hoskins Road awoke to the sound of their smoke alarm and discovered smoke on the second level in addition to hearing crackling sounds. First arriving units found heavy smoke emitting from the ridge and gable vents, and the soffits. The fire's head start and attic inaccessibility provided for a very labor intensive operation with many ceilings and knee walls having to be pulled to expose all of the fire.

Throughout the year our Fire Company hosts and participates in many events within Simsbury and the surrounding communities. Visit our calendar to view any upcoming events and make sure to click on the event description for additional details.

You remembered to set your clock back with daylight savings time but did you remember to change the batteries in your smoke alarm? Smoke alarms are effective but their batteries need to be changed once a year if you expect them to operate when you need them to the most. You can learn more about Smoke Alarms in our Public Fire Education section.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DIAL 911!

In Simsbury, dialing 911 gives you immediate access to the fire department, police and EMS. Emergency calls may also be placed via the red emergency phones located on the front of all of our fire stations except Main Station as our dispatch center is located there. For non-emergency calls you may contact the fire department directly by dialing 658-1971.
