The Simsbury
Vol-unteer Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary hosted our 10th
annual golf tourn-ament on June 13th at Blue Fox Run Golf
Course in Avon. Proceeds from the
tournament benefit the Fire Company and
Ladies Auxiliary, and help us support several charitable causes
such as funding for the Lieutenant Richard
Kelleher
Memorial Scholarship and support for the
Connecticut Burns Care Foundation
that sponsors a summer camp for children who are burn victims.
The participation of the golfers and the generous support from
the donors allows us to continue to provide our services to the
community, and is very deeply appreciated.

According to the
USFA, toy-like or novelty lighters have been
responsible for injuries, deaths, and accidents
across the Nation. Children are attracted to
novelty lighters because they look like toys.
Maine and Tennessee have banned novelty lighters
and several states including Connecticut are
considering legislation. Click on the link below
to learn more about this danger.
